Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Lintl is a pre-launch invoice finance platform for the UK construction sector. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.
Who we are
In this policy, "Lintl", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the Lintl platform. A limited company (Lintl Ltd) is being incorporated and will be named as the data controller, with its company number and registered office, once registered; we will update this notice at that point. In the meantime you can reach us at hello@getlintl.com.
What data we collect
- Email address and name: when you register your interest or sign up for updates.
- Company name and Companies House number: when you use our eligibility checker.
- Eligibility result: the company details you check (such as company age and SIC sector drawn from the public register) and the outcome of the eligibility check, so we can understand demand and follow up appropriately.
- IP address and browser information: automatically collected when you visit our website, used for security and abuse prevention.
- Enquiry and application details: your name, email, company and message when you contact us or apply through our Careers page.
- Usage and analytics data: collected by Google Analytics (see "Cookies and analytics" below).
- Platform and financial data (clients, once live): if you use the Lintl platform, this can include open banking data via our regulated provider, accounting data you connect, Direct Debit mandate details, invoice and debtor information, and identity and director checks, all processed to operate the finance service.
- Identity documents: when we verify your identity (KYC), we collect an image of your passport or driving licence and the details on it, such as your name, date of birth, document number and expiry date.
- Financial summary data: where you connect your accounting software, we hold a summary of figures such as revenue, profit, assets, liabilities, cash and amounts owed to you, used to assess and monitor your facility.
How we use your data
- To contact you about the Lintl platform when it launches (only where you have consented).
- To confirm eligibility based on Companies House records.
- To improve our service and understand demand.
- To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the following bases:
- Consent: for sending you marketing or updates about Lintl, which you give by opting in when you submit your details. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: for operating, securing and developing our platform, running the eligibility checker, and understanding demand, balanced against your rights.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on servers located in the United Kingdom. Some providers we use, such as Google Analytics, may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses) as required by UK data protection law.
How long we keep your data
We retain your details until you ask us to remove them, or for a period of up to 3 years from the date of collection if we have not launched the product. Once we launch, financial services retention periods apply: in particular, identity and anti-money-laundering records are generally kept for five years after the end of our business relationship with you, and transaction and accounting records for around six years, as the law requires. We keep identity document images only for as long as needed to verify you and meet those obligations, then delete them.
Sharing your data
We do not sell your data. We may share it with:
- Service providers who help us operate, under appropriate data protection terms: our web hosting provider, our email provider, and Google (for Google Analytics).
- Once the platform is live, the regulated and specialist providers needed to deliver the finance service. These include our open banking provider (an FCA-authorised account-information provider, currently TrueLayer), our Direct Debit provider (GoCardless), accounting software you choose to connect (such as Xero), the Companies House public register, an AI provider used to read identity documents (see "Automated decisions and AI" below), and credit-reference and anti-money-laundering check providers.
- Regulators, professional advisers, or law enforcement where required by law.
These providers act as our processors under written terms and may only use your data to provide their service to us. We do not permit them to use your data to train their own AI models.
Companies House data
Our eligibility checker queries the Companies House public register via their official API. We do not store the full register record returned by these queries, only your email, the company name and number you searched, the limited details used to assess eligibility (such as incorporation date and SIC sector), and the eligibility outcome.
Automated decisions and AI
To help us work quickly we use some automated tools, always with a person involved before any decision that significantly affects you:
- Eligibility and early risk checks: we use rules-based scoring on public and connected data to give an indicative view of eligibility and to flag risk. These support our decisions; they are not the final word. A member of our team reviews before we approve, decline or set a facility, so you are not subject to a decision based solely on automated processing.
- Identity document reading: when you upload a passport or driving licence, we use an AI provider to read the document and check details such as the name and expiry date. The image and the details on it are sent to that provider purely to perform the check; they do not use your data to train their models, and a person reviews the result.
- Document review: where you use a tool that reviews a document you upload, such as our contract review tool, the document is sent to the same AI provider to produce your review. It is used only to generate your result, not to train any model, and you can ask a member of our team to review it.
You can ask for a human to review any automated decision, express your point of view, or contest it, using the contact details below.
Cookies and analytics
We use functional cookies that are required for the website and any login to work. These are a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a cookie that remembers whether you have signed in before on your device, so we can offer returning visitors a sign-in option rather than a sign-up one. These cookies do not track you across other websites.
We also use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. It sets cookies and processes limited data such as a shortened IP address, device type and the pages you view, to give us aggregate statistics. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell your data. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or your browser's privacy settings.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data
- Restrict or object to our processing
- Receive your data in a portable format, or have it transferred
- Withdraw consent at any time
The easiest way to exercise any of these is our data request form. You can also email privacy@getlintl.com. We respond within one month. To protect your information we may first ask you to verify your identity, and for complex or multiple requests we may extend the time by up to two further months and will tell you if so. Using these rights is free, though we may charge a reasonable fee or decline a request that is clearly unfounded or excessive.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
