Application for payment.

Build an interim application for payment the standard way: value the work to date, take off retention and what has already been certified, then apply VAT and the CIS deduction to get the net sum due. Print it or save it as a PDF to submit.

Your application (optional, shown on the printout)
Valuation to date (cumulative, excluding VAT)
Value of contract work done to date, not just this period.
Instructed variations valued to date.
Unfixed materials delivered to site, where your contract allows them to be valued.
Retention and previous certificates
Check your contract. JCT's default is 3%; many subcontracts say 5%.
Total certified on earlier applications, after retention. Leave blank for your first application.
VAT and CIS
CIS is deducted from labour only. Materials, plant hire and VAT are paid in full. Not needed for gross payment status.
This is a general guide, not advice. It provides an automated, first-pass application for payment and may not reflect your contract or circumstances (contract-specific retention, discounts, contra charges, fluctuations, valuation rules and payment notices may change the figure). Always check the figures against your contract, and verify your CIS status and the correct VAT treatment with HMRC or your accountant. It is not legal, tax or professional advice and is not a substitute for a qualified solicitor, accountant or commercial professional. You must verify any figure before relying on it.
